Fire Marshal James Chism brings more than 30 years of fire service experience to Salado Fire l Bell County ESD #1. Throughout his career, he has served in nearly every aspect of the fire service, including emergency response, fire prevention, code enforcement, fire investigations, emergency medical services, and executive leadership.

 

As Fire Marshal, James is responsible for protecting our community through fire inspections, fire code enforcement, public education, fire investigations, commercial plan reviews, and community risk reduction. His experience helps ensure residents, businesses, schools, and visitors receive knowledgeable, professional service focused on preventing emergencies before they occur.

 

Prior to joining Salado Fire l Bell County ESD #1, James served more than 30 years with the Killeen Fire Department, retiring as Assistant Fire Chief of Operations and Fire Marshal. During his distinguished career, he also served as Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal, Arson Investigator, Fire Inspector, Firefighter, and Paramedic.

 

James holds numerous state and national certifications and is recognized as a Certified Fire Executive, Certified Fire Marshal, Master Arson Investigator, Incident Commander, Advanced Fire Inspector, Fire Officer II, Advanced Structure Firefighter, Paramedic, and Master Peace Officer. His extensive training and leadership experience provide invaluable expertise to our department and the community we proudly serve.
